The Hunter Women of Note Chorus is making it possible for you to achieve your goals.
Get along to their Open Rehearsal on 21 January, 2019 to try your hand at singing with this group of women.
The Chorus group is an all-women a capella group that sings barbershop music.
They are currently organising to perform on International Women’s Day in March and are welcoming new members.
All women are invited to the group’s open rehearsal on Monday, 21 January 6.45, at The Hunter Women’s Centre, corner of Avon Street and Industrial Drive, Mayfield.
At the end of the rehearsal, attendees will have the option to register for a six-week learning program.
Rehearsals leading up to International Women’s Day will be held weekly where singers will learn two songs.
Music Director Sandy O’Neill told News Of The Area, “Hunter Women of Note Chorus says, “Do something for yourself in 2019!”
“If you have a love of singing, this is your chance to try your voice in the company of like-minded women, in a safe and friendly environment where, aside from making sweet music, you will also have a lot of fun.”
Vocal coaching is provided including the basic of good a capella singing.
Women Of Note is open to all women and reading music is not a requirement.
Formed in 2015, the chorus group focuses on developing vocal skills, providing an outlet for so-called ‘shower singers.’
Ms O’Neill also said, “Women of Note is an a cappella chorus singing primarily in the barbershop style. “
“Barbershop, which uses 4-part close harmonies that lock and ring the chords, has many special features that are ideal for women singers.”
“For example, included in the four voice parts is the all-important bass part which allows women who normally have trouble hitting the high notes of soprano or even alto to be placed advantageously in the chorus.”
“Barbershop places a strong focus on entertaining audiences.”
