Medowie Public School has been awarded the funding to expand their out of school hours care program, creating up to 120 new before and after school places for students.
Ms Cusack congratulated the school on securing the grant from the Before and After School Care Fund, a $20 million NSW Government initiative designed to create more places in out of school hours care programs across the State.
“This funding is great news for busy families in Medowie, who need the extra flexibility that before and after school care provides,” Ms Cusack said.
Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell said applications are open for the third phase of Before and After School Care Fund grants.
“This program is open to all schools in NSW that would like to establish or expand an out of school hours care program,” Minister Mitchell said.
“Grants of up to $30,000 are available to help with costs such as fit-outs, tendering or equipment.”
“As a working parent, I understand how challenging it can be to juggle work and family commitments.” she said.
“Through this grant program, the NSW Government is helping young families to access the support they need.
Kate Washington MP, has been calling for support for Medowie’s OOSH places and funding since her election, and she said, “The lack of OOSH places has been a longstanding problem in Medowie, and since I was elected, I’ve been raising this issue and calling on the government to offer more support.”
“I congratulate Medowie Public School for ensuring its families have the supports they need, before, after, and of course during, school hours.”
