“All members of our community are invited to come along to see what this wonderful community facility has to offer,” Janette Coppock said.
“Some of our talented members will be on hand, demonstrating crafts such as ceramics, woodwork, leather work, spinning, art, mosaics, quilting, just to name a few.”
“Whether a long time resident or new to town, we hope you will be able to come along some time during the day to see our members at work on many of these crafts in our four large, well equipped craft rooms.”
The Craft Centre, began its life many years ago in a makeshift building called ‘The Hut’ on Hawks Nest Golf Course.
It had just four members.
Over the decades and many a fundraisers later, it’s now home to over 200 members in an impressive purpose built building on Myall Street, Tea Gardens.
Janette Coppock told News Of The Area, “This is a great opportunity to get started on a new interest and make new friends, especially if you are new to the area.”
“A yearly membership fee of $50, with a weekly class attendance fee of $5, gives members access to all the groups.”
“Effectively, this means members can attend one class or up to nine classes a week, for the one off payment of $5, with tea, coffee and biscuits, as well as great company.”
The Centre is open to the public on Saturday 20 October between 10am and 4pm.
