Tea Gardens Librarian Carol Johnson is an ardent puzzler and has brought her love of the jigsaw to the library in the form of a community jigsaw.

“It adds another level of things to do in the library,” Carol told News Of The Area.

“We often have couples come in, whether they be local or tourists, one person might be using the computer, the other can now occupy themselves with finding a piece or two of the puzzle.”

The history of the jigsaw puzzle dates back to the 1760s when pictures were painted onto a flat rectangle piece of wood then the picture cut into small pieces with a jigsaw, hence the name.

Today’s jigsaw puzzles can come in boxes with thousands of pieces and even the alphabet printed on the back giving clues to where the piece belongs.

So next time you happen to pop in the Tea Gardens Library, grab a piece or two and add your touch and expertise.

The librarians at Tea Gardens are all about community.

Chris Shelly took her love of books to the Spring Fair at Medowie at the weekend to read to the youngsters, in a series of story time sessions.

While the children got to rest and listen to some wonderful tales, mums and dads were given the chance to relax and enjoy a great day out, a ‘Fairy Tale’ come true.
