Last week, members from the Ulysses Club visited the PCYC Boxing Gym in Hawks Nest to show their support in the form of a welcome donation.
They presented the gym with two sparring head gears and six safety mats.
The gym is run by Tea Gardens Senior Police Constable Rob Wylie with the help from another local dad, Steve Peitch and trainer Phil Wallis who travels from Muswellbrook.
“This is a much needed centre for the youth of our area,” Constable Wylie said.
The PCYC gym is open to children of all ages and operates on Mondays and Wednesday from 4.30pm to 5.30pm in Booner Street, near the river end in Hawks Nest.
Local Ulysses President David Cant said, “The Myall Lakes Ulysses Club is a small group, made up of motorcycle enthusiasts and riders, mainly from Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest and Karuah.”
“The club is keen to support the PCYC in its efforts to engage with, and in the development of, local youth in our area.”
“The money used to purchase this equipment was accumulated as a result of member activities and the club feels that the development of our youth is indeed a worthwhile cause.”
The Ulysses club is a social club which caters for motorcyclists over the age of 40 years and welcomes new members.
