Representing the Myall Coast Region for just a few weeks, Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie is no stranger to the area, with regular visits continuing to meet his new constituents.
Visiting the southern end of his electorate last week, the National Party MP was pleased to have the opportunity to meet with residents of North Arm Cove, taking time to discuss issues relating to the village.
“As their new Member of Parliament, I was delighted to meet with some of the local residents to hear not only their views about Federal issues, but also some of the local and state issues affecting them in our region,” Dr Gillespie said.
The topics discussed with the Federal Member included telecommunications, television reception and GP services.
Other issues concerning the area including boat ramp access and bush fire hazard reduction were also raised with Dr Gillespie.
“There were a broad range of issues discussed and I was pleased the local community committee members took the time to brief me,” Dr Gillespie said.
“Some of these issues, I’ll be raising directly with the Commonwealth departments and agencies and others I will be talking to my State and Local colleagues with.”
Following his visit to North Arm Cove, Dr Gillespie attended Great Lakes Council Information Session in Tea Gardens where he spoke with members of the community before announcing the expansion of Peter Sinclair Gardens.
Dr Gillespie will be returning to North Arm Cove on Saturday 9 April, along with Labor Candidate for Lyne Mr Peter Alley, where they will present at the Residents Association meeting.
