LOCATED at the rear of Anna Bay Public School, the Gan Gan Centre is a wonderful community facility for families with children under the age of 8 years.
The Centre aims to support parents as well as children.
The main aims of the Centre encompass learning, emotional and physical wellbeing.
Parents are helped to feel confident in supporting their children’s development and to feel connected with the community they live in.
There is also a toy and book library on site for children aged 0-5 where parents can borrow items for a low cost fee of $10 annually or $40 for Family DayCare or Playgroups.
Tracy Ellem, Facilitator of the MyTime Peer Support group at the Centre, said, “The Gan Gan Centre creates a sense of community in an often busy world by bringing a diverse group of people, programmes and services together which helps support those in need.”
The Centre also provides educational opportunities such as Certificate IV Education Support (part qualification).
Regular groups include Young Parents Group, Foster Carers Meeting, Grandparents as Parents and Family Law Consult.
They also host play groups, including for children with a disability.
Tracy’s group is for families and carers of children 0-16 years old with disabilities or chronic medical conditions and is funded by the Australian Department of Services.
