Another medal haul for the students at Him-Do Tae Kwon Do, Salamander Bay.
Hamish Clark, 7, and Reg Hyde, 19, both brought home gold medals to add to their personal collection.
Hamish won his gold at the Australian Tae Kwon Do NSW States Championships in sparring and told News Of The Area, “I was excited to win and felt good about myself.”
Hamish currently has nine medals and has been doing Tae Kwon Do for three years.
“I am proud of myself and Master Ron is a great instructor,” he said.
Reg won one gold in poomsae and 2 in sparring at the same event.
He was an active martial arts student when he lived in the Philippines, however only resumed in March 2016 in Australia where he started from a white belt and has progressed to a blue one.
Reg said, “My motivation is a love for the sport which has been with me from a young age, I have always wanted to do tournaments and my next goal will be competing at National level and eventually overseas when I reach my black belt.”
After searching far and wide, Reg said, “I feel this is one of the best Tae Kwon Do academies in the Hunter and the Bay area.”
Ronald Bergan, Master Instructor, said, “Reg has been achieving gold in every competition he has been in this year and Hamish won his first gold at this level.”
“These guys train hard, three to four times a week to achieve their goals.”
The academy will see its last class on Monday 19 December and will resume on 9 January 2017.
