After years in the planning and months of hard work, ‘Beyond the Lenz’ opened its doors to a gathering of enthusiastic art lovers last week.
“It’s fantastic that we have a gallery that caters to the photographers in town and somewhere to showcase some different art and it’s a great initiative by Louise to get this up and running,” local Debbie Philipson said.
Photographer Simon Wilson told News Of The Area, “It’s a great turn out tonight.”
Simon is an award winning local photographer best known for his seascapes and aerial imagery.
“I’ve got three works on the wall, an aluminium print and an aerial of Bennetts Beach and I also have one looking towards Nelson Bay.”
For Gallery owner Louise Richards, the opening night far outweighed her expectations with a number of the works of the wall bearing red sold stickers.
Even more gratifying, Louise received a $5,000 donation to her charity, research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, to find a cure for the fatal genetic disease.
Louise also donates 10% of money from the sale of her own works to the charity.
Beyond the Lenz, is located in the Myall Street Plaza at 205 Myall Street Tea Gardens.
The Gallery is open seven days a week.
