FOR a group that started with just four members in a makeshift hut, the Myall Community Art and Craft Centre has certainly come a long way over the past quarter of a century.

At its annual general meeting recently, special presentations were made to long term members.

Twenty-five year ‘Membership Badges’ were awarded to Mary Britton, Bev Farrell, Pat Pritchard and Sandra Street.

The four women were also made Honorary Members.

Elsa Jones, Dawn Lyall and Dianne Taylor, all received a 20-year badge.

Staying the distance as well for the past years 15 years were Jacque Bright, Kerrie Crocket, Margaret Durham, Margaret Fraser, Neryl Gresham, Carol Heylbut, Gloria Lovell-Simon, Grace Oldfield, Shirley Cox and Winsome Dorrington.

Joy Bathie, Margot Case, Wilma Drake, Helen O’Brien, Liz Forte and Mike Forte have all been members for 10 years.

“Congratulations to all these dedicated members,” Janette Coppock said.

“The AGM was very well attended, with members sharing a chat over afternoon tea following the meeting.”

The next major event on the Centre’s calendar is an Open Day on Saturday 29 July.

“This will be a great opportunity to visit the Centre and see the many interesting and creative activities on offer,” Janette said.

“The Craft Shop will be stocked with lots a new items, so call in and enjoy what this wonderful community centre has to offer.”

There will also be demonstrations of the very many art and craft activities on offer at the Myall Street Centre.

The Open Day will run from 10am to 2pm.
