The section of the Pacific Highway that has been bypassed at Bulahdelah, from south of Booral Road to the new northern interchange at Lee Street, is now proposed to be handed over to Great Lakes Council from Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).
This road is now known as Bulahdelah Way.
As with previous handovers, negotiations have been ongoing with RMS to determine a compensation amount to be paid to Council for the transfer of asset ownership.
This amount has been based on the existing condition of the road and works required to bring this road up to a satisfactory condition over a ten (10) year period.
An amount of $1,172,904 has been offered from RMS for the transfer of responsibility for the Old Pacific Highway that has been bypassed at Bulahdelah (from south of Booral Road to the new northern interchange at Lee Street).
In addition to the handover amount, RMS have offered a lump sum of $652,007 for the intersection upgrade (roundabout) at Markwell
Road / Lee Street and pavement improvements on Lee Street to the east of the intersection and $5,000 for the restoration of Kestevans Road.
This work will be undertaken by Council’s Operations Section.
