COFFS Coast Judo Club has continued their past success at the Australian Judo Championships, with the third successive bronze medal at the national titles for 13-year-old Archie Simmonds.

Archie was one of four Coffs Coast Judo players to make selection for the state team through qualifiers in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and the Central Coast.

Joining him at the national titles was his older brother, 17-year-old Alex Simmonds, who fought in an adults division.

Competing at the 4-day event, attracting 800 qualifiers on the Gold Coast, for the first time were Hudson Baker in under 66 kg Senior Boys and Robert Ritchie in the Under 38 kg Junior Boys.

Another 120 players from Victoria were unable to compete this year.

Coffs Coast Judo Club trains Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at their dojo in Coffs Harbour PCYC Club with volunteer sensei coaches.
