Stuart has shown his works all over the world and his latest exhibition ‘The Real World’ will feature works that span his 40 year career as a painter. Having studied painting in Melbourne and New York, his figurative, pop-inspired pieces are thought provoking and depict dark and often disturbing unfinished narratives. MacFarlane has exhibited extensively in Australia, Europe and the United States. His work is held by collections including The National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth; Artbank, Sydney; regional and university collections and internationally in the United States. Kate’s work ‘The Lyrical River’ is a beautiful contrast of soft tones to Stuart’s bright bursts of colour. Kate has created a stunning range of works including paintings, ceramics, sculpture, video and fabric based installations that explore the Manning River and its unique double delta, permanent multiple entrances, tidal sand flats, channels, inlets lagoons and islands. Kate has an extensive career, exhibiting at leading galleries in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra as well as residencies in Italy and Paris. “The gallery is excited to host these dynamic exhibitions by two of Australia’s renowned artists. They are a strong addition to an already HUGE year for us,” says Rachel Piercy, Director of the Manning Regional Art Gallery. “Stuart’s and Kate’s works represent different styles and genres but they complement each other in their ability to create strong narratives. Everyone who comes to see these exhibitions will be treated to a strength of story-telling.” “The addition of a piece focused on our very own Manning River is especially exciting,” Rachel added. The exhibitions will be officially opened from 2pm on Saturday 27 July and all are welcome to come along to meet both Stewart and Kate and be the first to see their incredible works. Both exhibitions will run until 1 September and entry is free.
