A subsequent search of the man and his car located a shortened double-barrelled shotgun and a samurai sword. Both items were secured for forensic examination. A 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station. He was charged with possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority and custody of knife in public place. The man was refused bail and appeared before Maitland Local Court on Friday 9 December 2016 and was granted conditional bail to re-appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 13 February 2016.
