Great Lakes Council’s Mayor, Cr Jan McWilliams has applauded General Manager Mr Glenn Handford’s achievement of 20 years of service at Great Lakes Council.
Speaking at a ceremony held before the Council meeting, Cr McWilliams said that a large part of Great Lakes Council’s success is attributed to Mr Handford’s leadership.
“We are up there with the best of them,” the Mayor told a gathering of Councillors and staff.
Great Lakes Council is recognised as being one the most financially sustainable councils in regional NSW and is working towards strengthening this position.
The Mayor described Mr Handford as a visionary leader whose enthusiasm is contagious and who is willing to tackle “the big issues”.
“Glenn’s ability to liaise with the community and staff really comes to the fore.”
Mr Handford commenced at Great Lakes Council in 1994 as Director of Environment and Planning, and was appointed as General Manager in 2010.
“Thank you Glenn for your commitment and dedication to our organisation. I thank you personally for the great rapport we share – it is a great working relationship.”
When asked about his highlight over his 20 years service, he said, “The highlights are the support and dedication received whilst working with the Community, Councillors and Staff to set strategic directions for Town Planning, Estuaries and Financial Management for the Great Lakes.”
