Great Lakes Council is inviting everyone to attend the official launch of Local Government Week on Tuesday 4 August at the Council Chambers at Breese Parade Forster, beginning at 10am.
Twelve residents of Great Lakes will make their pledge of commitment to become Australian Citizens.
The ceremony will be followed by the formal announcement of the Library Champion.
The ceremony will be conducted with friends and family together with Councillors and senior staff.
Those making their pledges of commitment will be very happy to be welcomed to the Australian Family.
Countries of origin include the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Cambodia, Zimbabwe, Germany, The Philippines, the United States and China.
“This is one of my favourite duties as Mayor – to be able to have this personal interaction with new citizens and to make them feel welcome,” said Mayor Cr Jan McWilliams.
Ms Felicity Carter will formally be presented with her Certificate as Library Champion.
Felicity is involved in the Better Reading Better Communities Project
