Members from the HNTG Surf Life Saving Club have been travelling up and down the Coast since the first in the series of boat races back in November 2016.

The Club also played host to 86 crews and all their supporters on Bennetts Beach in December in the Combined Boat Series Challenge.

This coming weekend, Soldiers Beach SLSC is playing host and among those heading from Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens is the women’s crew, made up of five mothers.

Twice a week, when work and family commitments allow, the women launch their boat into the Myall River, jump aboard and hone their rowing skills.

As if often the case at their last training session, only three women were able to attend: Kelly Pietsch, Justine Cruise and L.J.

The women’s crew has been together for three years.

Helping out with their training are long time members, HNTG Surf Life Saving President Stephen (Scuba) Howell, and Club Patron Peter (the Whale) Rogers.

So if you’re looking to support your local Surf Club head to Soldiers Beach on Saturday 4 February to watch the crews battle it out to determine the final champions of each division.
