Hockey Coffs Coast season continues with Round 8

Beaches Sea Dragons and Orara Emus play off at the Coffs Harbour Hockey Complex.

THE latest round of the Hockey Coffs Coast season was decided last weekend with men’s and women’s games played over three days during Round 8 at the Coffs Harbour Hockey Complex.

Molly Williams had a busy Sunday afternoon, with the 13-year-old playing two women’s games in a row for her Beaches Hockey Club teams.

The Hockey Coffs Coast under 15’s representative told News Of The Area she loved playing for her beloved Beaches.

“We have some really good coaches and everyone is really welcoming and positive,” she said.

Williams said she noticed a real change in stepping up from juniors to play against women.

“The women are a bit bigger and harder to play, and they try to put pressure on me because I’m really small,” she said.

The young Beaches Hockey Club player explained the best part of playing in her positions of central midfield and defence.

“I like distributing the ball really well to anyone, and be there for both defence and attack as they are really connectible,” she said.

“I like combining attack and defence.”

Williams’ Beaches Sea Dragons women’s division 2 team drew 1-1 with the Orara Emus in her first game of the afternoon, while her Beaches Great Whites team drew 2-2 with the Urunga Bluefins in the women’s 3rd division match.
