For all our local youngsters, or if you’re here on holidays, there are some special activities on offer to fire up the imagination.

‘A Bugs Life’, is a Summer Reading Club activity with the team from Manning Regional Art Gallery creating a colony of curious creatures using spots and tape.

It’s aimed at children from 5 years and over and is a supervised activity being held at the Library on Wednesday 9 January from 9.30am to 11am.

The following week, ‘Wearable Art’ will have your children or grandchildren creating stylish accessories from off cuts, scraps and loose ends.

The craft afternoon is being held on Wednesday 14 January from 2.30pm to 4pm and again it’s a supervised activity for ages 8 to 15 years old.

And then there’s a first at the Library.

“For the first time in 15 years we’re going to be showing movies at the Library,” Library Chris Shelley told News Of The Area.

The movie ‘Maya The Bee’ will be screened in the Library on Wednesday 23 January from 2.30 to 4pm.

It’s rated G and all ages are welcome but parents must supervise youngsters 5 years and under.

“We’ll take 20 to 30 children by bookings and they can bring along their own water or juice and cushion and we’ll have some popcorn,” Chris said.

Chris added, “We’re hoping to grow the idea and screen movies for adults as well in the future in the genre of ‘Mamma Mia’ for example.”

Now all these activities need to be booked by visiting www.midcoastlibraries.com.au  or popping into the Library ahead of time.

And just a reminder, the Tea Gardens Library will be closed over the Christmas New Year period from 5pm on Friday 21 December, re-opening on Wednesday 2 January at 9am.

Librarian Carol Johnson and Chris Shelly ask that you don’t use the shute during that time to return books unless absolutely necessary.
