Dave Austin, club Vive President, said, “The minor singles is pivotal and hard fought competition and it marks the winner as a major player in our Club.” The final was played between Ben Taylor and Peter Green, both well known and respected long term members of the club. The game was marked by Dave, in line with the tradition that sees the VP appointed as the overseeing official of this vital game. Dave said, “It was a very competitive game played by two blokes I know well and like, but of course only one could win and that ended up being Peter Green.” Peter, now can no longer compete at the “minor” level and will go on now to only play at the major level. The Major Single Championship has now started in the club. President Mark Wilkie said, “Any club member who has not won a minor singles competition before can compete in the minor singles and as we welcome new and transferring players as members, one of these could well take the title next year.” If you would like to try lawn bowls, come along any Sunday morning for some free lessons.
