FOR the past twelve years, Karuah has been host to the Karuah Oyster and Timber Festival which has attracted at least 1500 people, with this year’s Festival taking place in Longworth Park, Karuah.
Two main events for the day are the woodchopping competition with choppers coming from Katoomba and Cessnock.
The second event is the cross cut sawing competition which takes place at the Karuah RSL.
Karuah Motor Yacht Club will organize a Fishing Competition for the children which will commence at 8.00am.
Entry into the competition is free and the Yacht Club will organize prizes for various categories.
One of the committee members for the Festival, Dawn Lyall told Myall Coast News, “It’s a great family day with plenty of stalls from soft serve ice cream to hot potatoes.
“There will be many activities for the children to enjoy like three legged races and the good old fashioned egg and spoon race.”
The Karuah Oyster and Timber Festival will be held on Saturday, 18 October 2014 at 9.00am.
