As of 23 September, it is now also home to a new mural installation.
Named ‘Arty Athletics’, the mural is part of a joint project between Medowie Little Athletics and artists from UP&UP.
The mural has been made possible through Cultural Grant funding from Port Stephens Council.
Faith Curtis from UP&UP told News Of The Area, “Community art projects are a fun and interactive way to engage young people and the wider community.”
Public artworks such as this provide those involved with a sense of belonging to a place, and they help to create more inclusive and diverse communities.”
The 5m x 2.4m installation will take pride of place on the clubhouse wall looking over the athletics field.
President of the Medowie Little Athletics club, Jason Wells told News Of The Area, “The artwork will activate the space, bringing colour and vibrancy to the community facility.”
“Kindlebark is used not just by our club, but by the whole community – kids kicking footballs, flying kites, and meeting up with friends.”
“The whole Kindlebark area has been improved over the last 12 months, with a sandstone seating area installed to provide a spectator area for athletic events.”
“We have a water bubbler waiting to be installed and further enhancements are planned for the area that will benefit the whole Medowie community,” he said.
