Lions Club of Soldiers Point Contributing to the Community

At this event, Soldiers Point Lions Club made a contribution to Nelson Bay Scouts, Nelson Bay Girl Guides and Anna Bay Scouts, to assist with their programs.

A total of $900 was donated to the three services.

Sharon Blunt was elected as President, Lloyd Jaenke Treasurer and Bob Cramp and Esther Gilmour as Secretaries.

This year alone the Soldiers Point Lions Club has donated a total of $12667.15 back into our local and National communities including $2500 to Farmers in Need and $1800 to Yacaaba Centre and Tomaree Neighbourhood Centre for their emergency relief programs and $2000 to Real Futures Foundation.

Sharon Blunt of the Soldiers Point Lions told News Of The Area, “Our club is always looking for more people who can join our friendly team.

Lions Club members are proud to be lions as every dollar of fundraising goes directly back in to our community.

The clubs major source of funds is through our barbeques held at the Legacy Markets at Fly Point.

This year one of our goals will be to fundraise for local schools in a range of projects that can assist students.

“Being a Lion is rewarding as we can see how our contribution can assist those in our community.

“A sausage sandwich provides more than just a tasty bite it helps us to provide assistance to so many.

“Where there is a NEED LIONS are there to help,” she said.
