A man will front court today, charged after allegedly robbing a convenience store in Lakemba last night.
About 9pm (Thursday 4 September 2014), a man was working at the store on Croydon Street, when he saw three men fighting on the footpath outside his shop.
He approached them and asked them to move away. Two of the men complied, and he went back inside the shop.
Police have been told the third man approached him, claiming to be in possession of a firearm. He took money from the till and the shopkeeper yelled out for help.
Another shopkeeper from a nearby store ran in and helped detain the man until police arrived.
Neither of the shopkeepers were injured while restraining the man.
The 18-year-old man was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with robbery and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Friday 5 September 2014).
