THOSE who grew up in Medowie will remember the old Medowie Sports Centre.

The indoor soccer and cricket, the old squash courts with the loud screen doors, and the video shop and lollies aplenty in the front shop.
It was sad to see the centre close its doors all those years ago, with only the ‘Squashie Takeaway’ keeping the place alive.
However, Medowie Sports Centre is coming back to life, stage by exciting stage.
Under the watchful eye and careful planning of owner Colin Carter, the centre has had a momentous first year, with a number of their facilities and retailers open and trading to the residents of Medowie, and a number more to come.
First up was the crew at Plus Fitness, a 24 hour gym, also offering classes and personal training with their zany and positive staff.
They brought along with them the Munchkins Creche soon after, with Tammy and Sam offering top quality childcare for anyone using any of the centre facilities, by making sure our littlest Medowie residents are taken care of.
The husband and wife team of Carol and Chris opened the Sportz Cafe doors in those first weeks, bringing us top quality local coffee, amazing food, and most importantly wonderful customer care and service.
Next up was the opening of the original squash courts, professionally restored to their former glory and modernised.
Joining the team is the new supplement store, Medowie Sports and Family Physio, Massage and Bowen therapists, junior gym and yoga.
So where to from here for Medowie Sports Centre, you ask.
There has been talk around town about the next exciting stages, and the centre manager, Steve Bentley, shared the news with News Of The Area.
“We’re really proud of how far we’ve come in our first year of being open, and even more excited about what is still to come.”
“We are breaking ground on the pool complex soon and we are looking forward to sharing the exciting news around that with you all soon.”
“Work will also commence soon on the exterior of the building, carparks and lots more.”
“The finished centre is going to be a wonderful thing for Medowie residents,” he said.
News Of The Area will keep residents up to date as each new stage of the complex begins.

So proud of what the owner has achieved with this building.
It’s just what Medowie needed!
Speaking on behalf of most of Medowie we thank you, for providing us with these modern, clean and amazing facilities.
The cafe owners should be so proud also, we love supporting local businesses, and will continue to support the Medowie Spotts centre.
Bring on that pool! That will be awesome!
