It’s been one of those seasons for the Waratahs, but the result of the Super Rugby game was inconsequential as the experience of watching some of their rugby heroes live in action was worth much more. The team were given the opportunity, along with other teams, to play in the pre-match at Allianz stadium when the Waratahs played against the Argentinian team the Jaguars. Team parent, Yola Kruger told News Of The Area, “It has been a great experience for the boys which they will always remember.” “A great effort by the under 8s; we are all proud of them.” “A big thank you to coach Reece for all his effort and time to teach our young boys to become better players and most of all, a pretty good team,” she said. The children were able to see the Waratahs warm up before the game and each got a rugby ball and a certificate for participating. Coach Reece Montgomery told News Of The Area, “Our boys played good, hard, disciplined rugby.” “They dug in and gave a valiant effort and overall had a great time.” Although Medowie did not win the match, four players scored tries. Congratulations to Matthew Van Der Berg, Robert Cook, William Montgomery and Charlie Wither. Well done Medowie U8s, it is opportunities like this that encourage and promote a lifelong love of the sport. By Rachael VAUGHAN Celebrating a great experience under the posts as a team.
