Medowie Pharmacy, located in the Medowie Shopping Village, is now offering a much needed service to mums and dads.
Each Tuesday from 9.30am-12.30pm parents can bring their babies and young children to the Baby Clinic for a free consultation.
Staffed by an experienced Registered Nurse (specialising in Paediatrics) and Midwife, Ms Megan Willis, no appointments are necessary for parents to receive expert advice about their child’s health and wellbeing.
Parents can be assured they are receiving the best advice as Ms Willis has been awarded for Excellence by the Australian College of Midwives.
This is particularly relevant for those expectant and first time mums in our community.
Pregnant women are also very welcome to come in to see Megan.
Owner of the Medowie Pharmacy, Gavin Smith, says the decision to open a baby clinic was based on feedback from customers.
Mr Smith, who has been a pharmacist for over 30 years, told Medowie News Of The Area “I realised that my customers really wanted the expert advice of a nurse who specialises in babies and young children; someone who was compassionate to the stresses of early parenthood and could provide reassurance during those first years, especially times when the child is unwell.”
Ms Willis lives in Medowie and understands the needs of babies and their families in the area.
Ms Willis, herself, has five children and understands the concerns parents have and is looking forward to “meeting all the mums and dads with their kids to help them through those early years.”
The Baby Clinic fills an unmet community need.
Previously, some parents have had to travel to Raymond Terrace, Newcastle, or the Bay to receive qualified, free advice.
