Toddler and father missing around Port Stephens, Steven Young and baby Sophie MidCoast LGA (overall news) Regional News by Dave Brazier - January 16, 2015January 16, 2015 Police have appealed for public help to assist them in locating a man and his young daughter who have gone missing from the Port Stephens area. Steven Young is 24-years old and is believed to be travelling with his daughter, Sophie who is 23 months old. They were last seen/heard from in the Port Stephens area, 12pm on Thursday (31 December 2015). Steven Young is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall with a fair complexion, ginger hair and blue eyes. Sophie is described as being of Caucasian appearance, fair complexion with red hair. Mr Young’s car is a black, Mitsubishi Magna with a NSW registration of (CB 45 TY). Insp Matt Meares from Port Stephens Local Area Command said that police were appealing for information about the pair. “We have concerns about the welfare of this man and child and believe that they may be travelling or staying somewhere on the North Coast. “I urge anyone with information about their current location to come forward as this disappearance is totally out of character,” Insp Meares said. Anyone who knows Mr Young’s whereabouts, or has any information that could assist investigators with their inquiries, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
