The Port Stephens Communicators are part of Toastmasters and they meet regularly to build their communication skills and to build confidence.

The mantra of the group is to offer a supportive positive experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills resulting in greater self confidence and personal growth.

Members are encouraged to think on their feet, use positive eye contact and improve their body language while presenting to a group and their efforts are kindly evaluated to help them improve in their delivery.

The group has been meeting for quite some time having clocked up 512 meetings to date.

Club President Warren Sharp told News Of The Area, “We enjoy it when young people get involved, and we can see their confidence and public speaking skills grow.”

While the club’s core members remain, many people attend and build their skills to use in the corporate world.

“The next meeting on 1 November is being held at 7pm at the Tomaree Community Centre (enter near the main library entrance) Town Circuit, Salamander Bay, and is a meet and greet.

“The Port Stephens Communicators are inviting members of the community to come along and see what membership offers on both a personal and professional level,” he said.

The group meets the first and third Wednesday of each month and everyone is welcome.
