Local Rotarian and ‘Trek 4 Kidz’ rallyist, Peter Page, is aiming to help Starlight in this quest by raising much needed funds to support those kids going through some of the toughest times of their lives.

Mr Page will embark on the ‘Trek 4 Kidz’ rally at the end of August after completing it for the first time last year.

The rally will see participants take in some of the most rugged terrain Australia has to offer with an emphasis on fun and community engagement.

“Starlight currently receives no government funding and the Trek 4 Kids rally has helped contribute over $880,000 over the past four years to their cause,”

“We’re all pretty proud of the work that goes into the rally to raise these funds.”

Mr Page’s son, Michael, has been involved with the rally for over 20 years and asked his dad to take the wheel for the 2018 rally that saw them depart from Port Macquarie and finish in Goulburn.

This year the rally will depart from Gloucester on 24 August and take in a loop of the Central West of NSW finishing up in Forster-Tuncurry on 31 August.

“The rally takes us about a week and we cover over 2,500kms through country most people never see on forest trails and backroads,” said Mr Page.

“We’ve got our 1992 Holden Statesman finely tuned for this year, it’s a five litre V8 so it’s got plenty of get up and go!”

Mr Page is still looking for some more local support with donations and sponsorship being fully tax deductible.

“All money raised goes straight to the Starlight Foundation at John Hunter Hospital, nothing is spent on administration with a full volunteer based workforce.” said Mr Page.

All those wishing to support this year’s rally can contact Mr Page directly on 0407435240.
