DURING the month of October, forty-four coastal dwelling Probians took a taste of country travelling via the Bylong Valley, Rylstone and Kandos before settling into their hotel in Mudgee as part of the annual trip professionally organized by Social Director, Peter Cameron from the Probus Club of Hawks Nest & District.

Our Mudgee accommodation was used as a base for the action packed four days focusing on a visit to the Henry Lawson Centre in Gulgong followed by fantastic entertainment, “Tales of the Swag” from Des Kelly returning to the hotel for the infamous Happy Hour and dinner at the Mudgee Brew Company.

Other activities included the Japanese Gardens/Cathedral Cave Tour in Wellington, guided tour of a Phosphate Mine with dinner at Kelly’s Irish Pub in Mudgee.

Day four, our group visited the Honey Bee outlet followed by a wine tasting at Peter Van Gent then a sumptuous Wine and Cheese Tasting for lunch at Logan Winery whilst taking in the magnificent landscape from the winery verandah.

On the final day, our enthusiastic group had the opportunity to visit the Museum in Gulgong followed by lunch at Gerards Place in Denman arriving back into Tea Gardens later in the afternoon.

As Vice-President of this wonderful Club, I was delighted to witness first hand the ethos of Friendship, Fellowship and Fun being displayed throughout the entire four days and it is this ethos that has made our club an outstanding success.
