LAST week, the Rotary Club of Myall Coast held their 13th annual Changeover night.
Seventy members and guests gathered at Mumms on Myall for the gala occasion held to induct the incoming Board for the next 12 months.
When asked to comment, Chairman of the event, Past President (PP) Geoff Latona, said, “It was great to see so many of Rotary’s supporters there to help celebrate the beginning of another Rotary year.”
Past President Paul Dewar outlined his 2015/16 year and thanked Members for their dedicated hard work and support but also for the generous support that the Community has given the Club.
This past year, the Club has donated in excess of $16,000 to local organisations and to Rotary Youth and Welfare programs.
Two special guests on the evening were Cordell Murphy and Carl Price.
Both were recent participants in Rotary Youth programs with Cordell spending 12 months as a Rotary Exchange Student in Poland.
Cordell said that he was proud to represent Rotary and that both he and Carl benefited tremendously from the experiences.
Mr Dewar handed over the chain of office and the mantle of President to Rotarian Brian Oakley.
He wished Brian and his team of Directors continued success during the following year and expressed his thanks to everyone involved.
Rotary International was founded in America by businessman Paul Harris in 1905.
In special recognition of individuals who give of their time and energies to “Service Above Self”, the Rotary Foundation established a Paul Harris Fellowship.
Rotary Clubs have the opportunity to nominate someone from their Community.
This year Jennifer Wenham was recognised with membership as a Paul Harris Fellow for her years of unstinting dedication to the Community and in particular, to The Red Cross. A recognition well earned.
