SAWTELL’S bowlers will need to play their part at Richardson Park on Saturday if the home team is to win its North Coast Cricket Council Premier League clash against Harwood.
Sawtell’s total of 189 is a competitive one.
It could’ve been lower when the home team slumped to 6-89 at one stage before Richie Gallichan with an unbeaten 58 and Jesse Buckle with 35 steadied the ship with a 71 run partnership.
Harwood will resume its run chase at 0-12.
The Northern Districts bowlers were forced to toil all day in the warm conditions as Valleys produced an imposing 5-292.
Brodie Bartlett made a tremendous 115.
He and Callan McKiernan (81) had a 182 run opening stand to lay the platform for the large total.
In the Coffs Harbour District Cricket Association’s first grade competition, Diggers remain undefeated after a comfortable win over Valleys.
Valleys was dismissed in the one-day encounter after only 27.2 overs for 100.
Hayden Cross and Brad Carey each took three wickets for Diggers.
There was little drama in the run chase with Diggers reaching the target for the loss of only two wickets.
Tom Luchetti top scored with an unbeaten 39.
Northern Districts made a modest 142 at Richardson Park but the total looked like a gigantic score that was never going to be reigned in after Parvinder Nagra took three wickets to have Sawtell reeling at 3-0.
For the second week in a row Coffs Colts dismissed the opposition for a score in the 60s.
Shayde Perham was the pick of the bowlers with 5-9 as Nana Glen could manage to only make 65.
Unlike the previous week, this time the Colts produced a successful chase passing the meagre target for the loss of only three wickets.
