THERE is always something that puts a smile on my face at Karuah RSL when I pop in to see Ross Parr and the team.
From happy faces at reception to smiling members, it’s a genuine drawcard for the area. And for so many reasons.
I was recently however a little astonished to spot not one, but a dozen or so various sized and coloured Bras being suspended from the roof in the entrance foyer and thought, “What are they up to now?” with a quiet chuckle.
Secretary Manager Ross Parr soon filled me in.
“A member of Karuah RSL recently returned from Fiji where recent cyclones have left a devastating effect on so many people. One thing during that trip was the ongoing lack of the basics and for the ladies in particular they lacked even the basics of comfort including ownership of bras,” Mr Parr told News Of The Area.
‘The idea was floated here to ask for donations of Bras to send over to Fiji where they would be greatly appreciated. So we’re asking ladies to send their Bras on a holiday to Fiji and help out those less fortunate than us,” he said.
I must also mention the Clubs current major competition that is drawn on Sunday September 25 at 2pm.
