TUNING in to 100.9 Port Stephens FM on Thursday mornings between the hours of 9am-12pm, you will hear the beautifully serene voice of Radio Host Colleen Antcliffe.
Ms Antcliffe was asked to be a presenter by long time radio host Brian Watson not long after she retired from a rewarding career in Business Administration and Management.
Originally from Newcastle, Colleen Antcliffe and her husband John used to come to Port Stephens often, holidaying and pursuing their mutual love of bushwalking.
It was only a natural progression that the couple would move to the area, purchasing a block of land and later building their home here on the Tomaree Peninsula.
Wearing two hats at Port Stephens FM, not only is Colleen a radio host but she is also the secretary of Port Stephens FM.
“I love being a radio host because I absolutely love the music,’’ Ms Antcliffe told Bay News Of The Area.
“I really couldn’t do what I do without the support of my husband John, he is so very supportive of my role here,” Colleen Antcliffe said.
John, is also a member of Port Stephen’s FM and volunteers regularly.
Port Stephens FM 100.9 is based in Salamander Bay and broadcasts throughout the Port Stephens region.
Their range extends into Newcastle, across to Maitland and north beyond Karuah.
The radio station has been operating for more than 20 years, and has approx. 50 volunteers from presenters to technical and administration staff.
The station is always looking for new volunteer presenters and admin staff.
You can join as a member for $20 per year and as it is a non profit organisation, they rely on sponsorship from local businesses.
Anyone interested can call the station on 49846666 for more information.
