Medowie has secured another new eating-out option with the 1recent opening of Sportz Café.
Operator Carol Saunders has been delighted with the welcome the café has received so far, telling News Of The Area, “The Medowie community has been very supportive.”
Moving from Sydney to operate the business, Ms Saunders, a former caterer has opted for a tree change in coming to Medowie.
She was attracted to the community-mindedness of Medowie locals, having visited the town many times over the past 12 years, deciding to settle permanently in order to start up Sportz Café.
Currently open 7 days, 7am-4pm weekdays and 8am-3pm on weekends, once the attached gym opens on 15 June, hours will be extended to meet customer demand.
Located at 58 Ferodale Road (next to Wirreanda Public School), and occupying part of the soon to be opened Gym, Sportz Café has made a commitment to locally-sourced produce.
Ms Saunders told News Of The Area, “Employing local people is important to us, as is focusing on local suppliers.”
The menu choice is varied, offering freshly made food, including chicken and fish crumbed and battered on-premises, gluten free options, cupcakes made locally by Cake Crime. Customers are also
able to customise their orders to their taste, and the crème de la crème of café treats, scooped ice-cream.
“The kids love their ice-creams in the afternoon,” Ms Saunders said.
“Already, there is a local following of students buying this delicious treat after school.”
The café, part of the new exciting sports development set on 6 acres, has undergone a complete refurbishment, ready to serve the Medowie community.
