On Friday the 20th of March, four students represented St. Joseph’s Bulahdelah at the NSW CPS Swimming Carnival.
This is a NSW Catholic Primary School (CPS) Sports Council Polding and MacKillop Championships event.
This event was held at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre and involved students from the dioceses of Armidale, Bathurst, Canberra / Goulburn, Lismore, Maitland/Newcastle, Parramatta, Wagga Wagga, Wilcannia/Forbes and Wollongong.
The four students from Bulahdelah and Tea Gardens were: Lucas Hertzler, Riley Kerry, Ella Howarth and Sophia Stubbs and they competed in the 200m Freestyle Relay.
They each swam 50m in the Olympic pool.
Their families were there to support them.
One parent told Myall Coast News that the atmosphere was amazing and she was in awe of the organised and formal event.
Riley Kerry commented, “All the swimmers in the event were very professional.”
The St. Joseph’s Bulahdelah students did not gain a place in their event, but relished the opportunity to compete in a highly official sporting event.
