The ‘big boat’ regatta will see both the 4.9metre and 5.5metre classes vie for the coveted titles.

Tanilba boasts as many as eight former and current national catamaran champions.

These hardened veterans are nurturing the club’s junior sailors who are moving up the ranks and on to the larger craft.

Club stalwart Sam Breaden has much praise for the next generation of sailors: “We received a government grant to purchase open ‘Bic’ trainers several years ago and our first crop of three boys has mastered the art and are off to a Booti Booti regatta shortly.”

“Sailing is very much a family affair as it creates strong bonds between parents and their children. All those interested can contact me for details on 0419 912 420. A visit to our Facebook page: ‘Tanilba Bay Sailing Club’ will put you in the picture,” he said.
