Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as they investigate reports that a two-vehicle crash was sparked by road rage near Forster this evening.
About 7.40pm (Sunday 2 October 2016), a green Mercedes sedan and a white Toyota Hilux were both travelling in a southerly direction along The Lakes Way, Failford, when they collided.
The Hilux rolled a number of times and came to a stop. Four occupants of the vehicle – two men and two women, suffered various injuries and were all airlifted to John Hunter Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The male driver of the Mercedes was uninjured and fled the scene. He has not been located.
Officers from Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command are at the scene and have commenced an investigation, which will be assisted by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Initial inquiries have led police to believe the incident may be linked to road-rage, and a third vehicle may have been involved prior to the collision.
As inquiries continue, witnesses to the incident are urged to contact local police via Crime Stoppers.
