Tea Gardens Hawks and Lady Hawks take beating

Tea Gardens Hawks

WHAT a difference a week makes.

Riding high on two strong outings, the Tea Gardens Hawks came back to earth with a 50 point drubbing from last placed Paterson River side on Saturday.

Starting the game with a single player on the bench, and several playing out of regular positions, the Hawks were still confident.

The first 15 minutes, where sides were on an equal footing, saw the game trend formed.

A number of lost chances that would have got the Hawks in front went astray.

Paterson River replied with three tries to open an 18 point lead.

A well-constructed try from Mitch Baker gave the Hawks a window however a lapse in defence got Paterson to a 24 point to six halftime lead.

Players were digging hard to cover the limited bench however game ending shoulder injuries to Nick Clarke and Regan Hunter were a hard toll. Jack Beverley also carried a shoulder injury for much of the second half. Two sin binnings from and off the ball incident had the Hawks down to 10 players for a period of time. Paterson River took advantage to run out 56 point to 6 victors.

Player of the round was shared by John Schultz in the Jeff’s Quality Meats no.8 jersey, and Billy Greentree in the Hook’ n Cook No 7 jersey.
