Visitors were welcomed from Lake Cathie and Umina bowling clubs.

The new format for selecting winners now seems to have gained favouritism with the second game being selected to determine the winners.

The drop of the ball decided that the team of Ray Prigg, Pip Sullivan and Greg Pearson, from rink 3, and the team of; John Bilby, Dave Benson and Brian Emmett, on rink 10, walked away with the trophies.

The much sought after Myall Bistro voucher was won by Graham Watkins.

Members welcomed two new bowlers to our club, Dave Benson, formerly from Karuah, and Michael Parker ex Pymble BC.

Great to have them!

Well it was touted as the annual “Kneelers” versus “Grippers” trophy challenge but it was far more than that in the end.

It was actually a fundraiser for one of our Club’s favourite charities, “A Start In Life” which provides the resources to ensure financially disadvantaged children from our area have an equal opportunity at receiving a good education from primary school through to University.

Club members were joined by the Lake Cathie visiting bowlers and two greens were needed to accommodate all the players.

The day was a wonderful success with the Club “punching above its’ weight’ again.

A remarkable $3,000.00 was raised for our kids.

Brilliant effort everyone!

Incidentally, I’m told that the “Kneelers” won the trophy, but as there was no audit, I have my doubts.

Our bowling friends from Lake Cathie were joined by Club members today for a “friendly” game on the synthetic green.

Prizes were awarded to all in sundry and it would be fair to state that everyone had a great time and that the game of lawn bowls was definitely the winner.

Sunday bowlers enjoyed a game of Fours on the grass green today with 16 players attending.

Today we welcomed 4 new visitors who experienced their first game of bowls and for two of them their first taste of success.

Visitors Christopher and Maggie combined with Bev Dunn and skipper Dot Montgomery to come up trumps on 56 points.

Thanks to everyone who participated to make for an enjoyable morning.

As it is the holiday weekend next week, there will be no Sunday bowls.

In other news:

There are still a few vacancies for the Palm Lake Open Mixed Pairs scheduled for 13/14 October but I would advise that players need to enter soon to ensure a start.

Nominations are required for the annual Oncology Day to be held on Friday 19 October.
