THE popular Sun Restaurant at Tea Gardens Country Club served up its last Chinese feast last weekend after four years of serving the community.

Managers George and Jian Deng are planning on taking a well-earned break and spending more time with their three young children, Kim, Heidi and Melissa.

George said making the decision to move on was a difficult one and said he was going to “miss everything” about the restaurant.

“We are really sad to be leaving, everyone around here is so nice and polite,” George said.

“There’s a really good atmosphere as the community are very close and friendly.”

George and Jian have worked very long hours seven days a week, 365 days each year and said they have missed spending time with their family which was very important to them.

“It’s very sad to be leaving the restaurant, but it’s something we just have to do at this time for our children,” George said.

“We will be having a good rest and staying in the area for a couple of months and we will then look at moving to Newcastle to be closer to family.”

George said the highlight of the past four years has been the loyalty of their patrons.

“Without the support of the community we would not have been here for so long,” he said.

“It’s the people who made it enjoyable, we’ve made many friends and we are going to miss them all.”

George and Jian also thank their hardworking staff members William, Simon and Charlotte.

George said, “They have helped us out so much and we couldn’t have done it without them.”

George and Jian are leaving their much loved restaurant on a high with an excellent reputation for serving up quality Chinese Food.

As one restaurant patron said, “We loved our meals, the lemon chicken, salt and pepper squid and king prawns were the best we’ve ever had.”
