As the warmer weather arrives so too does the annual commencement of Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest Nippers season. Sunday 9 October, 2016, was the kick off date for the Nippers beach and water activities with a good turnout of participants. Nippers are young surf lifesavers aged between 5 and 14. The focus for nippers is on fun and surf awareness. Older Nippers also learn basic first aid and may also learn CPR at the age of 13 yrs. When Nippers are 13 they can complete their SRC (Surf Rescue Certificate) which allows them to patrol beaches and take part in senior competition. Nippers are our patrolling surf club members of the future. It’s not too late to join. It’s on Sundays from 9am to 10.30am.
