Maryanne Durrant, the Coordinator of the event, said, “This annual event gives us the opportunity to show our appreciation and enjoy one another’s company.”
“The 40 guests were welcomed with a glass of champagne or punch and cheese platters, before being seated at tables set with beautiful china for a delicious afternoon tea.”
Maryanne and her team of Susan Burns, Denise Dewar, Leona Clissold, Jenny Love, Lyn Ridge and Janette Coppock were waitresses for the day.
Maryanne said, “It was also a wonderful opportunity for the members to catch up socially and if the chatter and laughter were any indication, it was clear that the afternoon was enjoyed by all and a great success.”
As an aside, the Decorative Art Group is also looking for new members.
“This small but talented and enthusiastic group of ladies meet at the Centre every Monday from 1.00 to 4.00pm.
Jannette Coppock said, “Previously known as Folk Art, Decorative Art incorporates the old folk art techniques and newer more modern themes, such as pictorial, animal, birds and scenery which can be painted onto objects such as plates or onto canvas as well.”
“The Group members all have had at least 15 years tuition with an expert teacher and are keen to share this knowledge with new members.”
The Group also has a large library of art books for members to use so you can paint your own creation or join in a class project and enjoy a relaxing and artistic afternoon.
