
PRESIDENT Ian Jones and the Tilligerry Motorama committee were both surprised and elated to learn that they were praised in the NSW Parliament for their excellent work in running yet another successful motor show.

Member for Port Stephens Kate Washington is recorded in Hansard congratulating the organisers for their efforts over the years in bringing the community together and raising over $100,000 for the children’s section of the John Hunter Hospital. She also noted the work of our local Lions Club for their catering efforts.
Numbers of exhibitors were slightly down on the 500 total for 2016 but the beautiful sunny autumnal day saw crowd numbers surge to an estimated 4000.
The 16 sections were keenly contested and the Don Barrett trophy for the best car of the show went to Phil Denton for his HT Holden station wagon.
The people’s choice was a VK Holden and the best club trophy was taken home by the SS Holden owners group.
The Veteran/Vintage prize was awarded to Kevin Philip for his 1928 Dodge Tourer.
A presentation dinner later in the year will see representatives of the John Hunter presented with a cheque from the proceeds of the day. It is expected be in excess of $11,000.
