ORIGIN fever will hit the Myall Coast on Sunday when the Tea Gardens Sharks take on the Bulahdelah Bullets in the Annual Town of Origin Soccer Clash.
The action kicks off at 9.00am at Memorial Park in Tea Gardens with games between the under sevens right up to the open ladies and men’s teams to be played throughout the day.
Fierce rivalry is expected in the Tug-O-War with children’s teams set to test their muscle power against their parents.
Other activities including a free giant slide and kick a goal competition will ensure everyone is kept entertained.
Tea Gardens Soccer Club President Trevor Officer said the Town of Origin Clash has been running for 16 years with Bulahdelah winning the title for the past eleven years.
With a home ground advantage, Mr Officer said the Tea Gardens teams have been training well and were looking forward to enjoying the day.
“We’ve had several good training sessions and the teams will put their best effort into the games on Sunday,” he said.
“We are well-prepared and are feeling confident and think we have a good chance of finally winning the Shield this year.”
Bulahdelah Soccer Club President Sandra Hourn said it’s all about getting in and having fun.
“It’s a good chance for our teams to interact with the players from Tea Gardens and they will enjoy every moment of it,” she said.
“Having won several times before, our teams are definitely confident of another win on Sunday.”
Face-painting, a Barbeque, guessing competition and raffles with prizes donated by the local community have also been organised by the host committee.
Mr Officer said the day is a full community event with something on offer for everyone.
“The day is not just for the players,” he said.
“The whole community is invited to come down and watch the games and enjoy a great day together.”
The Town of Origin Clash and Community Fun Day is on this Sunday 24 July.
