JAN McDonald, formerly of Tea Gardens and now of Peter Sinclair Gardens, celebrated her 100th Birthday at Hawks Nest Golf Club on Saturday 17 March 2018 with her loving family and friends.

Five generations were present, with some coming in from as far away as Western Australia and North Queensland.

A rendition of old favourites were played on the Bagpipes by Mr. Ian Inness and enjoyed by all.

Jan told her party guests that “It made her day”.

Jan was born in Killingworth on the 19 March 1918 and was raised in the Redhead/Dudley area.

After completing High School she became a Seamstress and Dressmaker.

Wedding Dresses and Evening Wear were her speciality.

Jan met and married Cecil McDonald in 1941 during the War years, where Cec continued his war service.

They raised their children Pam Crittenden (nee McDonald) and Jim McDonald in the Dudley/Mt. Hutton area, but who now also live in the local area.

Jan was an avid Tennis Player in her younger years and won many trophies.

Jan continued her dressmaking work and continued to design Wedding dresses for countless relatives over the
years.

In the late seventies, Jan and Cecil retired to Hawks Nest, and joined the local Tea Gardens Bowling Club.

Jan continued to play after Cec passe, and kept this up well into her early nineties.

She loved her Bowls and made many friends over the years, as well as lots of trophies.

Jan also took up China Painting and loved her painting classes with Jan Winn and friends.

Over the years all her family and friends cupboards overflowed with cherished pieces.

Jan is also well known for her cooking, especially her apple pies and everyone was always welcome to call in for a cuppa.

She continued to live in her own home until the age of 99 years which is a great cacomplishment.

Jan now resides at Peter Sinclair Gardens.

On the 19 March, she again celebrated her 100th Birthday with another cake and celebrations.

She certainly has had a wonderful 100 years.
