Dear News Of The Area,
You are where I was in 1966, just beginning a news paper.
The Port Stephens Pictorial, years later we sold to the Raymond Terrace Examiner who eventually sold to the Newcastle Herald.

The first newspaper in the bay was the Port Stephens Times by a Mr Barnard (his son was, or still is an electrician in the Bay.) the next owner was a Wally Caldwell who later sold to Fred Causon, later it closed down, mainly because a new paper “The Port Stephens Gazette” started.
It was run by Tom Barras, an “A’ class ‘Jurno’.
I started taking photos for Tom and was making a little money on the side.
I was at the time an Instrument Fitter in the RAAF at Williamtown.
Tom was use to City style journalism and did not go over well with some locals. I left and started the “Pictorial” with my wife as the owner.
Hope this nutshell history note will be of some help to you. Will attach a photo from those days.
It shows the waterfront of the bay from the air.
Arthur Renforth
