A huge crowd turned out to watch the spectacular fireworks display at Tea Gardens Country Club, with an estimated 500 people welcoming the New Year with a bang.
With all eyes focused on the sky, both the young and old were dazzled by the 10-minute colourful extravaganza that exploded overhead.
Alma Napret from Tea Gardens, who attended the celebration with her husband Felix, said the fireworks were a great way to see out 2017.
“It was very exciting, everything was lit up and the decorations were lovely,” she said.
“We come every year and always have a very nice night.”
Mia McDonald from Hawks Nest told News Of The Area she enjoyed the family-friendly atmosphere.
“It was exciting watching the fireworks and having fun on the jumping castle with my friends,” she said.
Further north, the festivities were in full swing at Bulahdelah Bowling Club as revellers counted down the final moments of 2017.
Staff member Rose Wilson said everyone was in a celebratory mood ensuring the New Year kicked off in style.
“There was a good mix of young and old and everyone had fun enjoying the great music, dancing and good company,” she said.
As the clock struck 12, wishes for the year ahead were shared before the party continued into the early hours of 2018.
