On Saturday 26 January, Tilligerry Art Group (TAG) celebrated the official unveil of their new facade.

After the initial move to their new location on Meredith Avenue in Lemon Tree Passage, into the old Rural Fire Station, the local community joined forces to help the group make their vision come to life.

Most notably were five Tilligerry businesses who provided their very welcomed services.

Lene Twomey of Norsk Design worked very patiently with committee members to design and develop a website.

Nat and Jim Robertson of JN Industries Property Improvements stood by through the many design changes for the glass windows and doors.

Lauren Dennison, a local Activities Organiser worked with Bunnings Taylors Beach and Dulux Sales Executive, Michelle Wilmott, securing a donation of paint supplies to transform the old Rural Fire Station from khaki green to the now vibrant yellow, red and black.

TAG Gallery Manager, Jannine Deneen told News Of The Area, “This work is something that as a group we are very proud of, transforming the Gallery from ugly duckling to magnificent swan!!”

Certificates of appreciation were presented to Alan Steane for his artistic creativity in designing the facility’s new look.

Also to Lauren Dennison for her tireless efforts in securing the much needed exterior paint.

Ms Deneen said, “Our next dream is for an air conditioner for the main gallery space as it gets extraordinarily hot in summer and cold in winter.”

The day of celebration included many artist of varying disciplines from across the region and beyond.

Entertainment was provided by the local Ukulele Group companying a good old fashioned sausage sizzle.

TAG is run by volunteers who have one major thing in common, a love for artistic creativity.

Ms Deneen said, “It is very exciting to welcome newcomers into our midst, to see their work, be it art, craft, sculpture, photographic, jewellery or whatever else, and to include them in our programmes.”
